How to Move Crypto from Coinbase to Wallet

Coinbase is a platform, where investors come to sell, buy and trade crypto. You folks can exchange any crypto on this platform, as it is a completely secure exchange but one thing you should keep in mind is never to use the exchange to store the crypto, always prefer non-custodial wallets.

Why I am always against storing crypto on exchanges in almost all of my articles, the reason is that they are not able to secure your data fully, they give you partial ownership moreover they can sniff your data anytime.

Anyhow, let’s come back to the discussion we were talking about transferring crypto from Coinbase to a non-custodial wallet like MetaMask, TrustWallet, Coinbase Wallet, and more. Most investors get confused when they need to transfer crypto from the exchange to the wallet. If you are in the same boat then this article is going to guide you step by step.

How to Transfer Bitcoin from Coinbase to Wallet

As we discussed Coinbase is an exchange platform where investors come to trade. You can store crypto over the exchange but it is not secure due to partial ownership. We always prefer to store crypto in non-custodial wallets. Here in this article, I will show you how to transfer crypto from Coinbase to MetaMask.

Step 1: Log in to your Coinbase account:

Step 2: Go to the home screen:

Step 3: On the home screen there will be a button on the right side of the screen, click the button Send & Receive after clicking, there will be a pop-up:

Step 4: Hit the Forward Arrow Icon in Pay With the option to select the crypto that you want to send to the wallet:

Step 5: Afterward, it will display the list of all cryptocurrencies, select Ethereum and move back:

Note: Here I’m selecting Ethereum, you can select another one that you want to send.

Step 6: Enter the number of Ether you want to send:

Note: By default, it will display in the currency USD, PKR, or another currency for your ease, but first you have to swap the currency.

Step 7: Convert the amount first into bitcoin so that you would be able to send the amount, to convert the amount hit the circled button:

Step 8: Here you need to add the address of your MetaMask Wallet account:

Note: Here you just have to go to the MetaMask account to get the address:

Step 9: Go to the MetaMask account, and click on ellipsis:

Step 10: After clicking on the ellipsis icon, now go to the Account details:

Step 11: Copy the address:

Step 12: Go back to the Coinbase account, paste the copied address, and hit the button Continue:

Conclusion

Coinbase is a platform where investors can sell, buy and trade crypto. Moreover, they can share coins from Coinbase to custodial and non-custodial wallets. The purpose to transfer the crypto from Coinbase to the wallet is to achieve a security level. Coins that are directly stored on exchanges are at risk.
